Goondiwindi Educators Take Part in 'Teach the Teacher'

Fifteen teachers from schools across the Goondiwindi region recently took part in the latest Teach the Teacher event, gaining a firsthand look at the cotton industry and the wide range of careers it supports.

Teachers from agriculture, science, geography, maths and careers explored the full cotton production process – from paddock to product – and discovered new ways to bring industry knowledge into the classroom.

Laura Peisley, Head Teacher Careers with the NSW Department of Education’s Educational Pathways Program, was one of the attendees. She wrote about her experience in the program’s newsletter to NSW teachers and shared links to Cotton Australia’s updated Cotton Careers resources and new primary and secondary education units. The Educational Pathways Program newsletter supports student learning by promoting vocational training and employment pathways.

The event was coordinated by Cotton Australia’s Regional Manager Cate Wild and Education Manager Jenny Hughes, with support from the Macintyre Valley CGA, Namoi Cotton and local growers. Cotton Australia thanks all the coordinators and volunteers who helped make the day a success.
