NT agriculture in focus at Katherine business dinner and cotton gin visit
Diversification in agriculture took centre stage at the October Business Month Dinner in Katherine this week, where Cotton Australia's Senior Policy Manager for Northern Australia, Simone Cameron, joined ABC Landline's Pip Courtney.
Pip’s keynote address highlighted the importance of diversification in agriculture, drawing from her 30 years of experience sharing stories through Landline. She spoke about how diversification can increase income, open new markets, spread risk, and build long-term resilience to climate change.
As the local success story, Simone shared insights from her career in agriculture, discussing her vision for the future of farming in Northern Australia. She also outlined some of the key challenges and opportunities the region faces.
More than 60 Katherine locals attended the event, which was part of the Northern Territory Government’s October Business Month activities.
