George the Farmer releases new cotton education resources

Cotton Australia’s Education Manager Jenny Hughes has helped George the Farmer launch a range of educational resources for schools featuring some of our own cotton growers, in an effort to dispel myths about cotton.

A recent survey of Australian Year 6 students found 75% of year 6 students surveyed thought that cotton came from animals – a result not inconsistent with the crowds approaching the Cotton Australia stand at Sydney’s Royal Easter Show and The Ekka.

The resources include a 7-minute paddock-to-product video, shot in Narrabri, NSW, featuring the Kahl family and a music video of the new hit George the Farmer song, aptly named “Cotton, Cotton, Cotton”.

A curriculum-aligned educational resource for Foundation to Year 4 students and two “In the Classroom” cotton activity videos are also available.

All resources are available for viewing and download on George the Farmer’s website or you can watch them on the George the Farmer YouTube channel.
