Sydney school students learn about Australian cotton

Geography students at Ingleburn High School recently joined a hands-on incursion led by Cotton Australia’s Education Manager, Jenny Hughes. During the 3-hour session, over 20 students learned about the Australian cotton industry’s practices in sustainability, innovation, and technology.

Ingleburn High HSIE teacher, Antony Barwell, was inspired to arrange the session after visiting the Cotton Australia stand at the Sydney Royal Show earlier this year. The event covered essential topics like water management, integrated pest control, and Cotton Australia’s myBMP program.

Looking ahead, a geography excursion to a cotton farm and a gin tour in Griffith is being planned for next year to extend students’ learning beyond the classroom.
