Cotton focus on the NT and WA
Cotton Australia Board member Bernie Bierhoff and stewardship policy officer Doug McCollum were in the Northern Territory recently to examine first-hand the progress the industry is making in the north.
Aided by CA Northern Policy Manager Simone Cameron they attended a grower meeting before meeting fellow Board member Bruce Connolly on Tipperary Station.
Mr Bierhoff said it was an excellent visit. “I was amazed at the quality of the cotton coming from the Territory considering the rain they have had up there after the wet season.
“As a Board member it’s important that we have good knowledge of grower activities and plans in the north so fully understand how to support them,” Mr Bierhoff said.
Still in the north, last week 34 pastoralists along with Kununurra cotton growers and other key industry stakeholders attended the Kimberley Cotton and Cattle Forum in Kununurra.
The event was presented by the WA Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development in partnership with the Kimberley Cotton Company and the Kimberley Pilbara Cattlemen’s Association.
