NFF President and CEO embrace cotton in the NT
The President of the National Farmers Federation David Jochinke (DJ) and the CEO Tony Mahar have spent much of the week in the NT, seeing for themselves how the cotton industry is faring in the Territory.
Cotton Australia Senior Policy Manager Northern Australia Simone Cameron facilitated visits to Bindaroo where Chris and Amanda Howie from Hands on Agriculture showed them their crops.
Bindaroo is a cotton producer currently trialling rotational crops of soybeans and mungbeans.
The group then visited WANT cotton’s gin site near Katherine to inspect the new facility which
was officially opened last December.
On Tuesday the group met with Susan King from the Katherine Research Station before heading to Douglas Station where they met Tony Hayne – a myBMP accredited cotton grower and host of CSD variety trials since 2020.
