Implementing myBMP: Jordan Morrison
For Jordan Morrison, the myBMP (Best Management Practices) certification process turned out to be easier than expected.
Jordan began the road to certification by reaching out to his Cotton Australia Regional Manager, who guided him through the requirements. “I got in contact with my Cotton Australia Rep, and he helped me fully through the process,” Jordan said. Although he had initial concerns, he found the tasks straightforward. “Most things were fairly easy. I realised we were already doing a lot of what was required; it was just a matter of getting it certified.”
Simplifying Sustainability
Jordan's journey included some challenging tasks, like bunding fuel and cleaning the chemical shed, but much of the work involved updating paperwork and formalising existing practices. “The financial incentives and credits were beneficial, but the certification also contributes to our social licence and benefits the broader industry,” he said.
Jordan encourages other cotton growers to consider the process. “Sign up and go through it at your own pace. You might be surprised at how much you’ve already got in place,” he said. His experience shows that with the right support, myBMP certification can be a practical step toward improving farm practices and sustainability.
