Cotton on the agenda in NT visits

Sustainability specialist and Cotton Australia advisor Chris Cosgrove has joined Senior Policy Manager for Northern Australia Simone Cameron in a series of key meeting in the Northern Territory.

The pair met with NT government officials and ministerial staff to brief them on the ambitious and innovative work the Australian cotton industry is doing to revamp its sustainability data framework, and how this work can be applied to the NT.

Taking full advantage of the opportunity Chris joined a panel at a NT Farmers Association forum on 'Responsible Agriculture in the North'.

They visited cotton farms including those of NT Cotton Growers Association President Bruce Connolly and Vice-President Brett Corish to understand their operations and discuss cotton industry sustainability ambitions.

The meetings enabled a brainstorming session and planning to ensure any farms that choose to grow cotton in the NT do so in a way that balances productivity with environmental and social sustainability.
