Step forward in planning for growth in NT Cotton

Senior Policy Manager for Northern Australia Simone Cameron has taken advantage of key opportunities recently to educate Territorians about the possibilities for the expansion of cotton crops in the NT.

On Tuesday Simone attended a meeting of the Katherine & Big Rivers Region Chamber of Commerce and the NT Planning Commission Executive Committee. Among the attendees was the NT EPA Chair Dr Paul Vogel who was keen to hear from Simone about the 2024 crop.

The NT Planning Commission Committee was meeting in Katherine to consider regional priorities, like roads, logistics and infrastructure to support industry.

Last week Simone visited the Katherine Research Station for a workshop with agronomists on Cotton Physiology 101 and IPM and Disease Management in the Tropics.

Over 16 regional crop consultants, researchers and extension officers attended the Workshop which was delivered by Paul Grundy from CottonInfo and Samuel Krekeler from Queensland’s Department of Ag and Fisheries.
