University of Sydney Annual Narrabri Field Day

The University of Sydney Annual Narrabri Field Day 2024 was recently held at the I.A. Watson Grains Research Centre, where visitors got the chance to meet researchers and learn about the work happening in the region. Around 200 people attended the event, including researchers, industry, government and growers.

AT the event Cotton Australia CEO Adam Kay spoke about the Australian cotton industry’s sustainability program, our work with brands and retailers and the growing demand for supply chain traceability. He was joined by Moree grain grower and NSW Farmers Vice President, Bec Reardon, who talked about carbon and carbon credits, and Professor Alex McBratney, who shared insights on the future of agriculture.

In the field, CRDC-supported researcher Tom O'Donoghue showed his cover cropping experiments, highlighting their impact on soil health. The theme of the day was ‘Partnering for Impact,’ with displays on crop research, including new digital technologies, wheat genetics, pulses for protein, and future cropping systems.
