Cotton Australia lunch forges ties with leading UK brands

Cotton Australia recently hosted a lunch in London to introduce a small number of UK brands to the Australian cotton story and the farmers behind it. The event provided an opportunity to highlight Australian Cotton's sustainability journey and how the Australian industry is measuring its impact at a grassroots level, as well as what data collection means for our farmers.

The lunch was attended by representatives from well-known UK brands, including Reiss, Liberty London, ASOS, Topshop, Marks and Spencer, L'estrange, Gymshark, and the renowned British menswear brand Simon Carter. This event offered a valuable opportunity for these brands to connect with Australian cotton growers and ask any questions about Australian cotton.

Organized by the Cotton to Market team, the event featured speakers from Cotton Australia along with a Q&A session with cotton growers and Cotton Australia board members Nigel Burnett and Liz Stott.

The brand representatives loved hearing the story of Australian Cotton and the opportunity to meet growers. Questions ranged from practices used at farm level to community involvement through to the use of GM technology and the markets we sell our cotton into.

Held ahead of the 2023 Textile Exchange Conference, the discussions at the lunch focused on sustainable cotton production, measuring real-world impacts, and the community-driven approach behind cotton production.
