Growers urged to do due diligence when ordering wrap

Cotton growers are urged to conduct proper due diligence when ordering module wrap for the coming season.

Cotton Australia General Manager Michael Murray said Cotton Australia was aware of some instances this season where cotton module wrap had deteriorated while awaiting ginning.

“This not only meant that the cotton in question was exposed to the elements and was harder to handle in the gin yard, but there was also a very real risk of wrap fragments contaminating cotton going through the gin, putting Australia’s reputation as a supplier of contamination-free cotton at risk,” Mr Murray said.

“We understand there are a range of commercial suppliers out there, and it is a grower’s decision, but please exercise care when selecting your wrap.”
