Channel 9’s 60 Minutes Positive About Australian Cotton on Tariff Story
Well-known Boggabri cotton grower Andrew Watson has featured in a nationally broadcast 60 Minutes story on the Trump tariff issues impacting global trade, including Australia.
Former Tamworth NBN reporter, now junior 60 Minutes producer Toni Ambrogetti, has reported on many cotton issues over the years and knows Andrew well, as he was a regular contributor to positive stories about cotton.
When Toni’s 60 Minutes team decided to do a tariff story, she contacted the Cotton Australia communications team and Andrew directly to organise an interview.
The result was 3 minutes and 34 seconds of positive exposure for Australian cotton. While Andrew gave salient points and views about the possible trade issues due to the Trump tariffs, the overall impression was that Australian cotton is good, is important to the Australian economy, clothes and feeds the world (he also grows wheat, sorghum, etc.), and that cotton growers are good people. The visuals were breathtaking and could only have been viewed positively.
