Engaging the next generation at ag career fairs
Recently, representatives from Cotton Australia participated in two significant career fairs, connecting with students and promoting careers in the cotton industry.
The University of New England (UNE) Farming Futures Careers Fair attracted around 1,300 students and guests. Alec Macintosh, recently retired Regional Manager - Northern NSW, and Natalie Aquilina from Cotton Seed Distributors attended the event to highlight various career paths in the cotton sector and showcase the industry's opportunities.
Founded in 2011, Farming Futures is one of Australia's largest university-run agricultural careers fairs, connecting students with rural organizations to help them find future employment in agriculture.
At the Charles Sturt University (CSU) Approaching Ag careers fair in Wagga Wagga Tom Mannes, Cotton Australia Regional Manager - Southern NSW, engaged with the over 300 students who attended.
The annual Approaching Ag Careers Fair connects students with businesses and agricultural organisations, helping students explore potential workplace opportunities. The event also helps agricultural organisations build networks with the next generation of agricultural professionals.
These career fairs are great opportunities for not only connecting students, but to showcase the Australia cotton industry and the diverse opportunities it has to offer.
