Cotton Australia board meets NSW opposition to discuss key issues

The Cotton Australia Board and management team met with senior members of the NSW Opposition for dinner at Parliament House last week.

This marked the first NSW Dinner since COVID-19, reflecting Cotton Australia’s commitment to engaging with a broad range of political leaders. The event aimed to foster understanding of the challenges faced by the cotton industry and parliament while building direct relationships with political leaders.

Chairman Nigel Burnett and Deputy Chair Liz Stott led the Cotton Australia delegation, joined by NSW-based Board members, General Manager Michael Murray, and Policy Officer Jennifer Brown. Representing the NSW Opposition were Deputy Leader Gurmesh Singh, Shadow Minister for Water Stephanie Cooke, Opposition Whip Wes Fang, Member of the Legislative Council Scott Barrett, and Shadow Spokesperson for Training Justin Clancy.

Discussions centred on key issues such as water, including the proposed National Water Agreement and other ongoing water inquiries, as well as the success of the AgSkilled program.
