Delegates Rate General Meeting a Big Success
A survey of Cotton Grower Association (CGA) reps who attended the Cotton Australia General Meeting on the Gold Coast has revealed that every respondent gained new information or knowledge that they will pass on to their CGA, other growers, or people in the industry.
All participants rated the General Meeting from above average to excellent, with all but one stating that their local CGA’s issues are being addressed.
Comments included that the CGAs had a good chance to speak, the open forum allowed issues to be raised, and it was great to hear what others were doing.
Some of the key issues for CGAs included disease, cotton seed establishment, nitrogen, rising costs, traceability, biodiversity, and public perception of the cotton industry.
The event was well attended by growers, Cotton Australia staff, researchers, and other industry stakeholders. The meeting heard updates from CA staff on key policy developments and funding application achievements through the government.
On day two, the CRDC presented its review of 2023/24 investment concepts, with growers and staff providing crucial feedback and information.
The next General Meeting will be held next May in Sydney, with the Cotton Conference set to run from August 6-8, 2024.
