Flooding Impacts Farmers in Queensland and Cotton Growers in NSW
Floodwaters have broken levees and records, exceeding the levels seen in 1974 in several areas, causing enormous livestock losses and infrastructure damage.
For our own industry we are acutely aware that extremely heavy rainfall and isolated flooding has caused significant losses for some of our growers, and many of our growers will be facing picking delays and expected yield and quality losses.
As our farmers assess their losses, we asked that those who have suffered actual flood damage, to please email or phone Cotton Australia General Manager Michael Murray ([email protected] or 0427 707868), as this information is vital if any government assistance is to be activated.
For now, growers are watching the skies and hoping for drier conditions to allow picking to resume and minimise further losses.

Call for Government Support
Cotton Australia recently joined the Queensland Farmers’ Federation (QFF) in calling on the Queensland and Australian Governments to take a long-term approach to support the agriculture sector.
With multiple significant weather events already hitting Queensland this year, climate resilience, preparedness, and response are front and centre for Queensland’s farmers, who are once again facing devastating losses, including damage to crops, infrastructure, and essential farm resources.
