Cotton Australia Releases Federal Election Priorities for 2025

With the federal election set for 3 May, Cotton Australia has outlined its key priorities to ensure cotton growers’ needs are clearly communicated to policymakers.

As the peak body representing the Australian cotton industry, Cotton Australia advocates for policies that support growers’ ability to remain competitive in global markets while maintaining a strong reputation for quality, reliability, and sustainability. The organisation also works to push back against policies that could negatively impact the industry’s long-term viability.

Water remains a critical issue for cotton growers. Cotton Australia supports a measured approach that focuses on maintaining lawful and reasonable water access for the industry.

Cotton Australia is a member of the National Farmers’ Federation (NFF) and supports its list of election priorities for the incoming government. While many of the NFF’s priorities align with the needs of the cotton industry, Cotton Australia has also identified key industry-specific imperatives to advocate for on behalf of growers.

As the election campaign unfolds, Cotton Australia will continue to engage with political stakeholders to ensure growers’ interests are understood and considered in policy decisions.
