Rebates and discounts available for aerial markers help improve powerline visibility
Powerlines can be difficult to see from the ground or air, particularly in low light, rain, cloudy conditions or around dawn and dusk. Aerial markers are 3D rotating devices attached to powerlines that move with the wind and provide a visible warning of overhead infrastructure from multiple angles.
They help make powerlines more visible and reduce the risk of contact during farm work such as spraying, harvesting, planting, earthmoving and drone operations. Landholders should be aware of powerline locations on their property and take steps to manage safety risks.
Aerial markers are most useful where machinery operates near powerlines or where low-level aerial work is carried out.
In Queensland, Ergon Energy offers a Rotamarker program with discounted installation of up to 10 markers per property. Property owners can use the Look Up and Live app to identify risk areas and apply.
In NSW, eligible farms and small businesses may be able to access up to $1,000 through the SafeWork NSW Small Business Rebate for safety equipment, including powerline markers. More information is available on the Essential Energy website.
Use the lookupandlive.com app to check powerline locations on your property.
