Reminder for moving over-size machinery during harvest

With grain harvest now well underway across cotton-growing regions, Cotton Australia is reminding growers and contractors to review their rights and obligations when moving over-size equipment, whether directly on the road or as part of a load.

Movements of farm machinery on roads are covered under the National Class 1 Agricultural Vehicle and Combination Mass and Dimension Exemption Notice 2024 (No.1). A quick reference guide outlining key dimensions and requirements is also available and is ideal to print out and keep in your vehicle.

Full details are available in the Operator’s Guide, including special conditions that apply in different states. Once equipment is transported on a truck or multi-combination vehicle, standard heavy vehicle transport rules apply. More information is available on the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator website.
