Regional Planning Interest (Condamine Alluvium) and Other Legislation Amendment Bill 2026

Following Cotton Australia’s submission to, and appearance before, the Queensland Parliament’s Primary Industries and Resources Committee, the committee released its report and recommendations on the Regional Planning Interest (Condamine Alluvium) and Other Legislation Amendment Bill 2026.

Cotton Australia, along with Queensland Farmers Federation (QFF) and Central Downs Irrigators Limited (CDIL), raised concerns that the proposed Bill could weaken landholder rights instead of strengthening protections for the Condamine Alluvium.

Importantly, the Committee recommended that key protections under the Regional Planning Interest Act, which were proposed to be removed, should be restored.

Cotton Australia now looks forward to working with the Queensland Government to revise the Bill and restore these protections.
