Queensland Opposition (ALP) Cotton Australia Board Dinner
Cotton Australia Deputy Chair Angus O’Brien joined CEO Adam Kay and General Manager Michael Murray this week to host the annual Board Dinner with senior members of the Queensland Opposition in Brisbane.
The Cotton Australia team was joined by the Hon Grace Grace, Shadow Minister for Trade, Industrial Relations, Olympic and Paralympic Games, and Racing; Nikki Boyd, Shadow Minister for Local Government, Water, Fire, Disaster Recovery, Emergency Services and Volunteers; Tom Smith, Shadow Minister for Primary Industries and Rural Development, and Manufacturing; Lance McCallum, Shadow Minister for Energy; and Linus Power, Shadow Minister for Natural Resources and Mines.
The dinner followed a similar engagement with the Queensland Premier and senior Ministers earlier in the year.
Held annually for more than a decade, the dinners are an opportunity to build and maintain relationships and provide briefings on key issues affecting cotton production in Queensland.
This week’s discussions included the Regional Planning Interest (Condamine Alluvium) and Other Legislation Amendment Bill 2026, the success of the SmartAg Queensland training program, fuel and fertiliser conditions, the Murray-Darling Basin Plan, and the Queensland Competition Authority review into irrigation water pricing, including the comparison of the annuity approach and a regulated asset base model for Sunwater and Seqwater.
