Leadership Skills for the Next Generation of Cotton Professionals
Applications for the next Australian Future Cotton Leaders Program close at the end of this month — offering a valuable opportunity for those looking to grow their leadership skills and connections in the industry.
For many past participants, the program has been a turning point, helping them build confidence, communication and leadership skills while connecting with others across the cotton supply chain.
Sam Simons, agronomist with Poole Ag in Moree, said the experience continues to influence the way he works.
“The Cotton Leaders course helped me develop really effective communication skills and how to navigate different situations on a daily basis,” Sam said.
“I made valuable connections with people across the industry that I wouldn’t have come across in my normal day-to-day.”
Greg Pearce, Territory Business Manager with Bayer Crop Science, said the program encouraged him to think differently and take on new challenges.
“It made you think outside the box and be accountable for the conversations you have,” Greg said.
“At the very least, you’ll meet some great people and definitely learn something about yourself.”
Run by Cotton Australia with support from the Cotton Research and Development Corporation, the program is recognised as the industry’s premier leadership development opportunity. It combines workshops, one-on-one coaching, and a leadership project to help participants apply new skills directly to their business or community.
Applications for the 2026 Program close Friday 28 November.
