Growers Voice Tour Wraps up in the South
From Coogee to Condo, Banana to Blighty, Goondiwindi to Gunnedah and many cotton communities in-between, over 320 growers and industry have had their say on the future of the Australian Cotton industry.
The Growers Voice Tour has concluded 14 workshops in the south, with growers in Northern Australia invited to participate in a hybrid in-person and online event on Monday the 29 September. (details will be sent directly).
Strong attendance and engagement from growers and industry has left Cotton Australia and CRDC with important early guidance on the future direction of the myBMP program, traceability, the CRDC data platform and human rights. And an open mic session also allowed local issues to be raised including ongoing issues with 2,4D drift, access to water and cotton varieties and the P&D sheet. These issues will be followed up by Cotton Australia and CRDC where possible.
Feedback is currently being collated by the team at Cotton Australia, and all participants will be provided with a summary of key findings. High level insights are that growers want sustainability, traceability and data to be simplified and streamlined, with clear benefits and value for being involved - in particular market access and premiums.
Cotton Australia and CRDC would like to thank all participants for their honest and open feedback, which will be invaluable in progressing the Australian Cotton Strategic Roadmap in the following months.
