Cotton industry to star in Seven Sunrise National Broadcast from the Darling Downs
Channel Seven’s Sunrise will broadcast its weather segments live from the Darling Downs on Saturday 4 October as the cotton industry prepares to highlight its performance nationwide.
Long-time Seven presenter James Tobin and crew will be heading to Steve and Bridget McVeigh’s farm at Nandi ready to broadcast live on the 4th of October, from 7am. The McVeigh’s will feature before the weather segment after each half hour news bulletin.
Then, mid-way through the broadcast the team will head to the LDC Gin at Dalby Cecil Plains Rd and set up ready to broadcast the weather crosses from the gin.
Communications Manager Desley Sheedy said the TV broadcasts were all designed to ensure the broadest audience possible for the delivery of all the positive aspects of Australian cotton including farming families, sustainable practices, cotton products and all the colour and movement from the cotton gin.
“We encourage everyone to tune into Channel Seven’s Sunrise show from 7am on the 4th of October and enjoy the show.”
The broadcast is timed to highlight World Cotton Day, a United Nations-recognized international day that celebrates cotton as a global natural fibre and raises awareness about its importance in world economies. The day also promotes efforts to enhance the sustainability of the cotton sector and foster fair trade practices for everyone from farm to fashion.
