Cotton Australia Strengthens Canberra Connections
Cotton Australia CEO Adam Kay and General Manager Michael Murray recently met with politicians, staffers, and senior public servants from across the political spectrum during a visit to Canberra.
Over two days and 17 meetings, Adam and Michael discussed a wide range of topics, including water reform, regulation of the ABC, Right to Repair legislation, industry traceability, Northern Australia development, and the Environmental Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act.
This visit was one in a series of regular Canberra meetings, providing important opportunities for Cotton Australia to raise key national issues, share the industry’s perspective, and build relationships with decision-makers.
Meetings were held with the offices of the Minister for Environment and Water, Murray Watt; Minister for Agriculture, Julie Collins; Minister for Trade, Don Farrell; and Leader of the Liberal Party, Sussan Ley.
They also met directly with the Minister for Northern Australia, Madeleine King; Assistant Minister for Agriculture, Anthony Chisholm; Leader of the Nationals, David Littleproud; Deputy Nationals Leader, Kevin Hogan; Nationals water spokesperson, Ross Cadell; Senator Susan McDonald; Member for Durack, Melissa Price; and Member for Parkes, James Chaffey.
Discussions were also held with Murray–Darling Basin Authority CEO Andrew McConville, focusing on the Basin Plan Review, and Acting Agriculture Secretary Justine Saunders, where key industry priorities were outlined.
