Cotton Australia Hosts Annual Dinner with NSW Opposition
Cotton Australia recently hosted its annual dinner with the NSW Opposition, coinciding with a significant day for the NSW Nationals leadership. Cotton Australia Chair Liz Stott welcomed guests and highlighted key issues facing the industry in NSW. She was joined by fellow Board members Angus O’Brien, April Canavagh, Gavin Dal Broi, Rob Dugdale, Daniel Kahl, and Cotton Australia staff Adam Kay, Michael Murray, and Jennifer Brown.
Representatives from the NSW Nationals included Gurmesh Singh MP, who was set to be elected leader the following day, Michael Kemp MP, Shadow Assistant Minister for Agriculture, David Layzell MP, Shadow Minister for Regional Transport and Roads, The Hon. Scott Barrett MLC, and water advisor to Steph Cooke MP, Mark Macnamara. Rural-based Liberal colleagues also attended, including The Hon. Susan Carter MLC, The Hon. Aileen MacDonald OAM MLC, and Justin Clancy MP.
Discussion at the dinner covered water, transport infrastructure, biosecurity, energy infrastructure and pricing, and included an overview of Cotton Australia’s Roadmap initiative.
Cotton Australia regularly engages with state and federal representatives to raise key industry issues, provide the sector’s perspective, and strengthen relationships with decision-makers.
