Cotton Australia Board visits the Macquarie Valley
The Cotton Australia Board visited the Macquarie Valley this week, meeting with growers and hearing about local issues firsthand.
In Narromine, growers gathered at the Narromine Irrigation Scheme for a casual lunch and discussion, with the chance to see the outcomes of government infrastructure projects that have delivered efficiency gains as an alternative to buybacks.
The Board also visited the Gin Gin Weir, where Macquarie River Food and Fibre Executive Officer Michael Drum provided an update on local water issues. Later, local grower Tony Wass gave the group an overview of the Burrima property in the Macquarie Marshes to share insights into the area’s unique landscape.
An evening dinner in Warren gave growers the opportunity to raise and discuss key industry matters with Board members. The following day, the Board held its regular meeting.
Cotton Australia thanks all the Macquarie Valley growers who took part, as well as the Narromine Irrigation Scheme and Regional Manager Mel Swift for their support in organising the visit.
