CGAs updated on policy, advocacy, water rights and industry priorities

Over the last fortnight, Cotton Australia CEO Adam Kay has met with several Cotton Grower Associations (CGAs), updating members on CA’s work in the policy and advocacy space, discussing ongoing efforts to protect water rights, engaging with ABC management around failures to meet standards of accuracy and impartiality, and the ongoing work with the NFF and the government on fuel and fertiliser availability.

Adam gave growers an update on how the 2026 Cotton Conference organisation is progressing, as well as the mid-plan review of the Strategic Plan, which will occur at next week’s General Meeting.

Cotton Australia has also offered to have each CGA’s constitution reviewed to ensure they are fit for purpose, as many were written years ago and need updating.

The visits included the Dawson Valley CGA, the Central Highlands Cotton Growers and Irrigators Association, the Lower Namoi CGA and the Walgett CGA. There was strong engagement and good Q&A sessions at each location.
