Biosecurity in the Boardroom
Cotton Australia recently participated in the launch of a Queensland Farmers’ Federation (QFF) and Biosecurity Queensland (BQ) initiative, Biosecurity in the Boardroom. The initiative is designed to elevate the discussion of biosecurity risks and management from being just an issue for agriculture to an issue for all Australians—particularly board members responsible for the actions of their companies and organisations.
The recent detection of Khapra beetles in imported goods by community members highlighted the critical role the whole community must play in protecting Australia from biosecurity risks.
As farmers and land managers, you should ensure that visitors, including suppliers, adhere to appropriate biosecurity controls. To a large extent, these controls should be driven by the boards of these organisations.
