Australian Cotton at Kmart and Target Partner Conference
Cotton Australia’s Cotton to Market Lead, Brooke Summers, attended the recent Kmart and Target Annual Partner Conference in Melbourne, which brought together more than 100 manufacturers from around the world, including many suppliers producing 100% Australian cotton products.
The program included a Target store tour, a cocktail function and a full day of presentations outlining the retailers’ future business strategy. An increased focus on natural fibres, durability and quality was highlighted, with Australian cotton being specified as a fibre of choice across both Target and Kmart. Shoppers can expect to see more Australian cotton across a wider range of product categories in the coming months and years.
Target is the retailer with the most licensed products carrying the Australian Cotton Mark to date this year. The Cotton to Market team has been working closely with Target’s in-country teams on chain of custody requirements, and the results are evident, with Australian cotton swing tags now appearing across menswear, womenswear, apparel, homewares and intimates throughout Target stores.
Cotton Australia will continue to work with Kmart, Target and their suppliers as demand for Australian cotton grows.
