An End-of-Year Message from the Cotton Australia Chair
As we come to the end of the year, I want to thank growers across every region for the trust you place in Cotton Australia. Stepping into the Chair’s role in August, after two years as Vice Chair, has reinforced how much this industry relies on strong representation and clear value for levy payers.
As a grower running our family farm near Leeton in southern NSW, and a levy payer myself, I understand how important it is to know that your contribution is working for the greater good of growers and the wider industry. That is something I, along with our Board and staff, take seriously, and we will continue to ensure the organisation delivers real value back to the people who invest in it.
We know the year ahead will be more challenging, with tighter water availability in some valleys, softer prices and a smaller national crop expected. In times like these, united advocacy and a strong voice for growers matter more than ever.
With this in mind, planning for the 2026 Australian Cotton Conference is already underway. The conference will be an important opportunity to bring the industry together, share insights and focus on the road ahead.
On behalf of the Board of Cotton Australia, the management team and all staff, I want to wish growers and their families all the best for the festive season. It’s been another very busy year, and when you work as hard as we all do in agriculture, it’s important to take time to reflect on 2025 — the lessons learned and the moments worth celebrating — as we prepare for the year ahead.
I also want to acknowledge the team at Cotton Australia. Most will be taking a well-earned break, with the office closed from COB Wednesday 24 December until Friday 2 January 2026. However, as in previous years, help will be just a phone call away. Senior staff will be on call and available should any urgent issues arise during this time.
Thank you again for your support throughout the year. I look forward to continuing to work with you in 2026.
