Overview:

World Cotton Day will be held on Monday, October 7th 2019. This inaugural event will celebrate the international cotton industry and its contribution to communities and the global economy.

The Cotton Australia World Cotton Day Photo Competition will run from the start of Monday September 30th 2019 to the end of Monday October 7th 2019.

Synopsis:

The Cotton Australia World Cotton Day Photo Competition will use social media to share images and information celebrating the Australian cotton industry and conveying the industry’s positive, strong connections with the communities in which it operates.

The theme for the competition is: Australian cotton - local communities clothing the world.

Suggested examples of entries include photos of: Australian cotton growers and their families working on the farm; Community projects funded by the Australian cotton industry; Multi-generations of the one Australian cotton farming family; Local businesses being supported by the Australian cotton industry.

Entrants are also encouraged to include in their entry posts information about how the Australian cotton industry supports their community. 

To be eligible, still photographic entries must be submitted via social media, must tag Cotton Australia’s official social media accounts, and must include the designated hashtags #WorldCottonDay and #ISupportAussieCotton.

The best entries will be judged according to their meeting of the eligibility criteria, relevance to the theme, originality, and creativity.

The winning entries will receive gift cards to the Bonds store, which stocks Australian cotton products and can be purchased online. Bonds is not a sponsor of the competition and other brands also sell Australian cotton products.

Cotton Australia is granted usage of each entry for purposes determined solely by Cotton Australia, in perpetuity, and without notice and without any fee paid to the entrant.

Terms and conditions:

  • Entrants must upload a still photograph conveying the theme Australian cotton - local communities clothing the world on the entrant’s Twitter and/or Facebook account.
  • To be eligible, all entries submitted via Twitter must tag Cotton Australia’s official Twitter account @CottonAustralia and must include in the post the hashtags #WorldCottonDay and #ISupportAussieCotton.
  • To be eligible, all entries submitted via Facebook must tag Cotton Australia’s official Facebook account @CottonAustralia and must include in the post the hashtags #WorldCottonDay and #ISupportAussieCotton.
  • Only entries posted between 12:00:00am Monday September 30th 2019 and 11:59:59pm Monday October 7th 2019 will be considered.
  • Entries must feature Australian locations, adhere to relevant workplace health and safety (WHS) guidelines and depict safe practices.
  • Watermarked entries will not be considered.
  • Entries that have been entered into previous competitions by Cotton Australia are not eligible.
  • Cotton Australia is granted usage of each entry for purposes determined solely by Cotton Australia, in perpetuity, and without notice and without any fee paid to the entrant.

Judging:

  • Entries will be judged by a panel of Cotton Australia staff members.
  • Entries will be judged according to their meeting of the eligibility criteria, relevance to the theme, originality and creativity.


Prizes:

Winners will be awarded:

  • First place winner: $300 Bonds gift card
  • Second place winner: $100 Bonds gift card
  • Third place winner: $50 Bonds gift card
    Bonds is not a sponsor of this competition.

Only entries posted between 12:00:00am Monday September 30th 2019 and 11:59:59pm Monday October 7th 2019 will be considered.
