  • NFF welcomes move towards red tape reduction

    The National Farmers’ Federation (NFF) has welcomed the release of draft legislation by the Minister for Agriculture, Barnaby Joyce, designed to prevent further red tape around the use of agricultural and veterinary chemicals on Australian farms.   • Grower of the Year field day

    The Darling Downs will be host to the National Grower of the Year Field Day next month. The event will be held on 18 February at John (Cowboy) Cameron’s farm ‘Kintyre’ at Bongeen. The event will attract growers and industry identities from across Queensland and NSW, who will hear how Cowboy used a strict soil health program, experimentation, planning and attention to detail to achieve a 10 bale/hectare dryland crop last season.   • Spray drift tactics – communication helps avoid damage

    Australia’s cotton industry has done reasonably well this season to reduce the instances of spray drift, with more than 407,000 ha – about 95% of the crop – mapped on http://www.CottonMap.com.au, a major plank in the fight against crop damage.
