A group of teachers in Goondiwindi have toured parts of their local cotton industry, to improve their teaching of the sector to students.
Participants of the Teach the Teacher program toured Glen Smith’s property, ‘Koarlo’.
Cotton Australia’s Teach the Teacher program was held last week in the southern Queensland town.
A total of 32 teachers and industry workers took part in the program, which aims to broaden participants’ cotton knowledge.
The aim is they will go back to their schools armed with knowledge of the cotton industry to teach their students.
The participants toured Glen Smith’s Yelarbon property ‘Koarlo’, before taking a tour of Namoi Cotton’s gin.
The group then visited Goondiwindi Cotton’s retail store to hear from Sam Coulton about his experiences farming, and his journey into retailing cotton.
Teach the Teacher is a Cotton Australia project which is supported by AgForce Queensland’s School to Industry Partnership Program, MacIntyre Valley Cotton Growers Association, and Goondiwindi Cotton.
